He was left bereft and without any immediate family after his mother passed away shortly after giving birth to him.
Tolotos was adopted by a group of Orthodox Monks based in Greece after his mother’s death and then transported to a monastery on Mount Athos.
He was required to adhere to the stringent regulations during his tenure in the building. One of these was that women were prohibited from entering the premises under any circumstances.
It is suggested that the restriction had been in effect for hundreds of years, and despite Tolotos’ freedom to explore the broader world, it is said that the man never departed the monastery.
This meant that he never encountered a woman in real life. Rather, he acquired all of his knowledge through conversations and textbooks.
