“The human immunodeficiency virus, or HIV, is a virus that targets the body’s immune system,” they suggest. If left untreated, it may result in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or AIDS.
“At this time, there is no proven remedy. People who get HIV are infected for life. However, the infection may be managed with appropriate medical treatment.
“People with HIV can live long, healthy lives and protect their partners if they start and maintain effective HIV treatment.”
