“I went through four months of having a wheelchair, and after that, I had three months of walking with a cane,” Adam said. After that, wearing a leg brace for two more months was necessary.
The entire process of switching off all assistive devices took around a year. I used to say, “I can’t go to the post office and return my body,” even though the recuperation was excruciating.
“I struck my brain’s right side. The left side of your body is controlled by your right hemisphere. As a result, neither my left arm nor my left leg fully work.
“I can use my fingers, I can move my toes, but it’s tough to bend my knee, and it’s tough to completely move my left arm.”‘Guilt’ over his deadly error still haunts Adam.
Adam said that he
had battled PTSD and that he felt “so much guilt” over taking off his helmet after the near-fatal collision.
He is eager to live life to the fullest, though, and has written a book on his experience called Rebuilding Adam: The Tragedy,
