A Manhattan jury finds Daniel Penny not guilty, breaking the news.

Daniel Penny was found not guilty by a Manhattan jury of criminally negligent homicide in connection with Jordan Neely’s death. According to police authorities,

When 30-year-old Neely started behaving strangely on a train in New York City, 26-year-old Marine veteran Penny put him in a chokehold. After boarding the F train, witnesses said that Neely,

A homeless guy, was behaving strangely and ranting, and they stated they felt frightened by his actions. According to the prosecution, Penny choked Neely for almost six minutes.

After the jury was hung last week, the more severe allegation of second-degree manslaughter was dropped.

On June 28, 2023, Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg made the accusations against Daniel Penny public. Penny could have spent up to 15 years in prison.

The architecture student and veteran entered a not guilty plea. (RELATED: Daniel Penny’s prosecution is severely hampered by bodycam footage revealed.)
