A popular chain of Italian restaurants suddenly closes 30% of its sites.

The closures are the latest in a string of tumultuous events for Bertucci’s, which has now declared bankruptcy three times in as many years.

In 2018, Bertucci’s filed for bankruptcy, cutting its number of locations in half from 56 to only 28. After operations were strained by pandemic supply chain difficulties, a second filing was made in 2022.

Bertucci’s declared bankruptcy for the third time this year. There are just fifteen restaurants left, including a few in Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.

The chain will continue after this. Earlier this month, it launched a fast-casual branch of Boston’s well-known pizza restaurant, Bertucci’s Pronto.

The firm said, “The Bertucci’s you know and love is here to stay as well, just with a few less locations for now.”
