According to a psychologist, if you find real crime tales to be soothing, that’s a serious red sign. There are a ton of gloomy and unsettling documentaries that examine actual, horrifying murders if you browse the Netflix collection.

The three-part documentary on the “real-life Gone Girl,” for example, focuses on a couple’s terrifying encounter with a home intruder.

Additionally, the film Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey centers on a spiritual leader who establishes a system of compulsion and abuse.

Even though these series are among the most popular on Netflix, a psychologist has cautioned that if you like real crime, it’s a serious red sign. But not everyone shares the expert’s viewpoint.

One individual writes, “The justice the characters or real people frequently receive that I never did in my own life is what makes the trauma not relaxing to me.”
