Before embarking on their 795-day voyage, the pair loved taking cruises for many years. They didn’t decide to live there full-time until they discovered
it was less expensive than maintaining a retirement community. Furthermore, they felt as if they had been deprived of years of enjoyment due to the strict Australian lockdown.
They discussed the cost-effectiveness of their plan in a joint statement sent to PEOPLE by Princess Cruises, stating:
“The cruise lifestyle is incredibly efficient. Rent, mortgage payments, grocery shopping, and washing are not burdens you must worry about.
“We’re not young people, cruising is much cheaper than going to a nursing home and means we can continue to travel the world.”
They now take pleasure in the benefits of their new lifestyle, which includes ticket-priced meals and top-notch entertainment like dancing.
