A court has been informed that an 11-year-old girl will require plastic surgery after being wounded eight times with a steak knife at Leicester Square while on vacation with her mother.
Ioan Pintaru, 32, is purportedly responsible for placing the child in a headlock while assaulting her. He was subsequently restrained by members of the public, and the police arrived to apprehend him.
The child, who was with her 34-year-old mother at the London tourist location at 11.34am, sustained injuries to her face, shoulder, wrist, and neck as a result of the “random attack.”
Today, Pintaru, a Romanian citizen with no fixed address, was arraigned at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on charges of attempted homicide and possession of a bladed article.
The court was informed that he is a Romanian citizen, and he was wearing a grey prison-issue sweatshirt. During the ten-minute proceeding, the allegations were presented to him through an interpreter.
