Turner’s status as a senior at North Stokes High was confirmed. According to officials, the accident happened when he was on his way to the school’s prom.
The 17-year-old discovered one of those pebbles that people paint and conceal for people to find with the words “I’m ready” written on its surface earlier Saturday, according to Turner’s grandma, Bonnie Roberts.
According to Roberts, she believes the rock was a portent of things to come.
In a statement, Stokes County Schools Superintendent Brad Rice said, “We want to express our deepest condolences to Will’s family and friends as our school community grieves this profound loss.”
