A small plane crashes into houses in Simi Valley, California, killing two people.

According to officials, a small, home-built kit airplane crashed in Simi Valley, California, on Saturday afternoon, killing two individuals on board and causing damage to two residences. The aircraft also caught fire.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Vans RV-10 crashed about 2:10 p.m. close to High Meadow Street and Wood Ranch Parkway.

At a press conference, Ventura County Fire Department Public Information Officer Andrew Dowd informed media that the pilot had died in the collision.

Later, the department sent a statement stating that another passenger had perished.
