But it wasn’t just monitoring that Nkurunziza wanted to be adjusted to fit his timetable. The teen’s lawyer, Allan Lobozzo, had previously filed a motion to have his trial transferred outside of Androscoggin
County, claiming that he would not receive a fair trial due to media coverage and a lack of “true diversity” in the jury pool.
Nkunrunziza also requested permission to relocate to Biddeford, which is 50 miles south of Lewiston.
The teen was allowed to relocate by Judge Michaela Murphy, but she insisted that he must still communicate with a supervisor from a separate organization.
The court was persuaded by Nkurunziza’s legal team to allow their client to go to work and school unaccompanied.
