The attack was described as “deeply disturbing” by President Donald Trump, who also stated that the US “stands strong with India against terrorism.”
“We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured,” Trump wrote on his social media network, Truth Social.
Modi wrote, “Their evil agenda will never succeed,” denouncing the “heinous act” and promising that the assailants “will be brought to justice.”
“Usha and I offer our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India,” Vance wrote in a message.
Vance had a brief “quick and private” encounter with the Pope at the Casa Santa Marta residence in Vatican City.
