Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, and Asda are among the major supermarkets that have discontinued their supply from the Cranswick farm.
Cranswick has suspended the agricultural employees and ordered an investigation.
The welfare of the animals we raise is our first priority, and we are deeply saddened by the intolerable breach of welfare standards that was discovered at Northmoor Farm, a spokesperson stated.
“We suspended the team working at the farm as soon as we saw the footage, and we are carrying out a thorough and urgent investigation.”
Additionally, until the investigation is finished, the farm will not be able to furnish any more pigs. Cranswick’s stock fell 7% at the end of the day.
Cranswick is involved in every aspect of pig production and provides supermarkets throughout Britain with a variety of products, including fresh pork, sausages, and bacon.
Adam Couch, the company’s CEO, received £3.3 million for the company’s £2.6 billion in sales and £176 million in earnings last year.
