A woman who was nearly decapitated, raped, and disemboweled during a horrifying attack in South Africa is featured in a true crime podcast thirty years after the incident.

She has also given countless speeches to hundreds of people, motivating them by telling how her survival was aided by her attitude, beliefs, and choices.

Alison received the esteemed Rotary Paul Harris Award for Courage Beyond the Norm in recognition of her extraordinary bravery.

She was selected as Port Elizabeth’s Citizen of the Year that same year and was the first woman to receive Femina magazine’s Woman of Courage award.

“I have always hoped that by sharing my own journey with others, it would give them hope and courage for their own,” Alison remarked when the film was released.

“More people would be able to see the power of choice that each of us possesses and might decide to overcome life’s challenges if my story and eventual victory were to be shown on screen.”
