When Sarah was 13, her parents separated, and she thought her nightmare was over. However, when she was 15, her older brother, Arthur Stephen, came to live with them, and he began to harm her.
“I couldn’t believe it was happening again. It was horrendous,” Sarah said.
She didn’t tell anyone and tried to move forward with her life. She had two daughters and worked in office and hospitality jobs but struggled with the trauma that haunted her.
In 2019, with the support of her second husband, Darren, Sarah decided to make an official complaint.
The police investigation faced difficulties, including delays and lost files. She says the police were not empathetic to her stress and struggles with flashbacks and nightmares.
