According to a report, Russia returns a journalist’s body minus “eyeballs, brain, and trachea.”

After being detained incommunicado by Russian authorities for months, the body of a 27-year-old journalist has apparently been returned to her homeland, mangled and showing evidence of torture.

Earlier this year, the death of Ukrainian journalist Victoria Roshchyna, who vanished in August 2023 while visiting Russian-occupied Ukraine, was confirmed.

According to CNN, investigators now claim that her final months were characterized by cruelty and horror, even though her remains were returned to Ukraine in February as part of a corpse swap.

The forensic team discovered “many signs of torture and ill-treatment,” including “abrasions and hemorrhages on various parts of the body.

A broken rib, and possibly traces of electric shock,” according to Yuriy Belousov, chief of the war crimes department of Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office.
