In a statement, the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said that after receiving a call about a “active shooter,
” deputies and emergency medical personnel raced to the school at around 10.30 a.m. Hosey has since confirmed that they received the call at around 10.20 a.m.
Previous reports had stated that authorities received the call at around 9.30 and arrived at the school at around 10.20.
Atalanta FBI agents were sent to the location to support local law enforcement.
“What should have been a joyous back-to-school season in Winder, Georgia, has now turned into another horrific
reminder of how gun violence continues to tear our communities apart,” said President Joe Biden in a statement earlier today in response to the killing.
