According to McGruder, her brother was eventually confronted by an unnamed funeral home employee who gave the family the order to leave.
When they refused, she said he stabbed her brother in the stomach. Police described the wound as mild and said the victim was able to drive himself to the hospital.
The district attorney decided not to file charges for the stabbing because the suspect claimed self-defense.
By early afternoon, as videos of the bodies went viral on social media, Richardson Mortuary was flooded with customers.
“I saw a lady in purple in the same suit as my grandmother so I said, Wait a minute, that look like my grand momma,” Murita Brown recalled.
According to Brown, Bonnie Ashley, her grandmother, was scheduled for cremation last month.
