According to the financial website, the “Chicago-Naperville-Elgin Area” has had the most rise in inflation in the nation, with an annual increase of 4.3%.
According to a Crain’s Business article, a 6% rise in housing and transportation expenses is mostly to blame for the price increases.
However, Chicagoland’s “month over month” inflation figures are more comparable to those of the national average.
