According to royal custom, Prince George will be separated from Prince William once he turns twelve next year.

 

The strange regulation may be disregarded with the monarch’s OK, but it is put in place to avoid tragedies like airline crashes.

Tragically, three members of the royal family have perished in tragic aviation incidents in the past. Princess Cecile, sister of the late Prince Philip, died in a 1937 accident;

Prince George, Duke of Kent, niece of the late Queen, died in 1942; and Prince William of Gloucester, cousin of the late Queen, died in 1972 while participating in an air show.
