According to the attorney’s office, an Iowa man killed a random woman who refused to get high with him.

The victim told him to “f–k off” after he invited her to “come get high” with him, according to James Bernard Johnson, 43, who told the jury he “felt disrespected” by her reaction and then “fired a handgun four times.”

After being convicted guilty of killing a random woman on the street who reportedly refused to get high with him, an Iowa man could be imprisoned for the rest of his life.

Following a week-long trial, a Polk County jury found James Bernard Johnson, 43, guilty of first-degree murder on Wednesday for the July 2024 shooting death of Nikki Loffredo, 42, in Des Moines.

According to the attorney’s office, Bernard claimed that he noticed Loffredo strolling on the street at around 4 a.m. on July 27, 2024, and again at an intersection before he made the decision to approach her.

“He called out to her from his GMC Yukon, saying, ‘Come get high’ with him. She said, ‘Who are you? “F–k off, never mind,” the release stated.

Four grown siblings were discovered residing with their mother’s decaying body.
