Actor James Darren of “T.J. Hooker” passed away at the age of 88; may he rest in peace.

Darren has a successful career as an actor and singer. Among the others, he played police officer Jim Corrigan in 66 episodes of T.J. Hooker.

He previously appeared in the ABC science fiction shows The Time Tunnel and The Guns of Navarone. Additionally, he often appeared as a guest star on programs like Fantasy Island and The Love Boat.

But his performance as Gidget’s dark-haired surfer guy, Moondoggie, is maybe what many remember him for the most.

He performed as Vic Fontaine, a hologram lounge singer, on Deep Space Nine on a regular basis in the 1990s.

The Gidget theme tune was sung by Darren, whose song “Goodbye Cruel World” peaked at number one on the charts in 1961. We are very sorry to hear of James Darren’s demise. I hope he finds peace.
