Following a battle, doctors discovered that 21-year-old Australian athlete Jake Sendler had a rare disease that caused his death. Specifically, Jake was an amateur mixed martial arts competitor.
Eleven days after being brought to the hospital, he passed away on March 13. His family expressed their sorrow over the terrible loss and issued a warning.
Although her son complained of muscular discomfort and urine staining, Jake’s mother, Sharon, told News.com that she didn’t think the complaints were significant or cause for alarm.
Doctors gave Jake the all-clear to fight in the three-round bout on March 2. He needed assistance leaving the ring after the battle since he was unable to do it on his own.
An ambulance was then summoned. Rhabdomyolysis, an uncommon muscular ailment in which the muscle breaks down, was identified as the young athlete’s condition.
