The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) declared a “major incident” when a huge fire broke out on Friday.
The fire department recommended residents to keep their doors and windows closed and cautioned people to avoid the area.
The building’s entryway was on fire, and smoke was rising toward the Tyne River. However, at approximately 1:43 am on Saturday, the major incident was lowered.
