The case comes in the wake of other high-profile allegations of sexual abuse in Pakistan that have provoked indignation on a national and worldwide scale.
A 28-year-old Belgian tourist claimed to have been gang-r*ped five days after being kidnapped in Islamabad in August 2024.
The lady was discovered on a street, bound and unattended. She reported to the authorities that she had spent six months in Pakistan.
Her assertions were contradicted by further inquiries, nevertheless, with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Belgian Embassy claiming there was no documentation of her arrival.
