The individual was repeatedly ordered to drop the knife by officers stationed just outside the yard. Instead of complying, he got to his feet and moved toward the officers while still brandishing his weapon.
Officers then fired their weapons, pausing until the man collapsed.
The male was taken to the Portland Medical Center, where he is still in the hospital, and PPD officers started life-saving procedures right away.
