After breaking into a hot car to save “Baby,” the officer discovers he made a grave error.

When a police officer in New Hampshire broke into a car to free a newborn who was confined inside, he found that the infant was a lifelike doll.

According to WMUR, on July 23, Keene police Lt. Jason Short was summoned to a Wal-Mart after receiving a complaint of an infant trapped inside a car in the parking lot.

Short decided right away that he needed to shatter the glass to save the baby because it was a hot day and he could see feet peeking out from behind a blanket.

Short believed the infant was dead after breaking into the car and removing the blanket, so he breathed into its mouth, but the lungs did not expand.

Then he saw that the baby’s mouth did not open and that it was actually a realistic-looking doll. He canceled the ambulance call.
