After breaking the world record and winning gold, pistol shooter’s “casual” response has gone viral.

A third expressed their gratitude to Kim Yeji for introducing them to the sport, adding, “This is COLD.” The fan was obviously enamored with the shooter.

“I would love to believe that she’s a hitman (or hitwoman) by day and an Olympic athlete by night, with the same swagger,” someone else said… Hope they’re kidding, at least.

One Reddit user provided an explanation for why shooters don’t usually get huge responses in comparison to other sports on a page featuring the Ye-ji’s shot.

“They can’t really react,” they boasted. They are constrained in their actions by the regulations surrounding target shooting.

The punishment for “boisterous behaviour” is disqualification. The way you walk when you step off the range is also regulated.

The phrase “no reactions” is quite simplistic. However, regulations are in place for the sake of safety and to ensure that other competitors are not distracted, so this kind of behavior is not unusual.

That makes perfect sense. I can’t think of anything more frustrating than training for years for a big tournament, breaking a record, and then being disqualified because you chose to celebrate by shooting a few rounds into the sky.
