After calling a police officer “stupid and white,” Chelsea star Sam Kerr was exonerated of a race-related accusation.

 

At Kingston Crown Court since the day before, a jury rendered the not guilty decision on Tuesday. Following the judgment, Judge Peter Lodder KC stated:

“I believe her own actions had a major role in the allegation’s introduction. The jury’s decision has a big impact on the expenses issue, but I don’t support it.”

Ms. Kerr seemed emotionless as the decision was given, but after the judge had departed, she gave her lawyer, Grace Forbes, the thumbs up.

Ms. Kerr acknowledged subsequently calling PC Lovell “stupid and white” during a heated argument, but she disputed that this constituted the accusation throughout the trial.

“I feel the message was still relevant” she continued, while she expressed sorrow for the manner she had spoken.

She denied using the term “whiteness as an insult” and asserted: “I thought he was abusing his position and authority by accusing me of something I’m not…
