She said that for over 40 hours, she was administered the medication Vasopressin at a dosage that was 2.5 times the recommended maximum.
In the end, Jessica sued a group of doctors and the hospital for malpractice, and on April 23 of this year, a jury reached a decision in the case following 12 years of back and forth.
The lawsuit named Albany Pulmonary and Critical Care Associates, Albany Vascular Specialist Center, and physicians Thomas Ungarino, James Palazzolo, and Joe Morgan, all of whom denied any misconduct.
The jury apparently just took 30 minutes to decide to give Jessica $70 million in damages, making it one of Georgia’s most awarded medical negligence cases.
Regarding the jury’s 30-minute deliberations, Jessica’s primary lawyer, Matt Cook, stated: “That should tell you everything you need to know about who was right.”
