After committing a simple error, the mother of four fled for a few seconds and warned other women.

 

Abare complimented her children’s rapid thinking, saying, “They were incredibly focused and driven by the need to help their mom,”

At the Williams Center for Plastic Surgery in Albany, Abare is being treated by Dr. Keimun Slaughter, who hopes to eventually get her scalp ready for a hair transplant. Abare covers her wounds with a wig in the interim.

“When I put on my wig, nothing seems to change. However, mentally, it’s difficult,” she said with tears in her eyes.

They put a wig on a mannequin beneath a car hood while the engine was running. Like Abare’s hair, the wig was instantly twisted and pulled in.
