“She nearly knocked me over celebrating.” “She was like, ‘I’m going to make you proud,’ and she did that,” her father, Toiwarn Black, said.
“She walked over like, ‘I know you saw that coach, I know you saw that,'” Butch Ard, the 19-year-old’s head coach, said. “I saw it,” I replied.

Friends, coaches, and teammates had a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Black’s life. People were allowed to share their best recollections of the 19-year-old at the poignant ceremony.
To honor her passion for the game, everyone completed a lap around the field at the conclusion of the ceremony. “Being out here with all these people who loved and cared for my baby.
Is just so awesome, and it’s just a great experience to have to have to just see the love, to feel the love,” her father said. Black’s loved ones were shocked to learn of her passing.
The track and field athlete went back to her family’s house after recovering from the excitement of winning the season’s first track competition.
