“All right, I’ll buy TikTok so it doesn’t get banned,” MrBeast said on social media on January 14. This is definitely a possibility for the YouTube celebrity, who is valued at almost $1 billion.
“Unironically, since I tweeted this, I’ve had a lot of billionaires reach out to me. Let’s see if we can pull this off,” he said after his first tweet.
Users who do not already have the app will no longer be able to download it if it is not sold by the January 19 deadline.
The app will eventually become unusable, although those who currently have it will still be able to access it. Future updates will not function.
