The mother was arrested after the victim pointed to her private areas and, with the help of others, attacked the man who was allegedly beaten to death.
“The alleged perpetrator was so severely injured from the attack by the mother and the community that he was pronounced dead at the scene when an ambulance arrived,” he stated.
In front of prominent supporters in a courtroom on Monday, she was released on bail and taken before Cacadu Magistrates.
The overwhelming public support led the National Prosecuting Authority to withdraw the charge.When the murder charge was withdrawn, the locals celebrated.
“The matter has been withdrawn after careful consideration by the Director of Public Prosecutions,” stated Luxolo Tyali, spokesman for the National Prosecuting Authority’s Eastern Cape office.
“Thanks to everyone who has supported me since the incident and my subsequent arrest and the withdrawal of the charge, I can now help my daughter,” the relieved mother told News24.
