“Now that a doctor has confirmed that she was raped, I will have the strength to fully focus on her wellbeing as she has been emotionally distressed by what happened to her,” she stated.
Earlier, the courageous mother had described how the rapist was a family friend and how she discovered him and her daughter half-dressed after storming over to his residence and kicking in the door.
I sobbed and asked this man what he was doing to my disabled daughter, who is unable to speak for herself, so my only choice was to protect her myself, she told News24.
“My daughter and I have to rebuild because what happened happened and is in the past,” she continued. I want to thank everyone one more for their support, which has come from all throughout South Africa.
There was a sizable audience at the court to support the mother, including Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane and his provincial cabinet minister for social development, Bukiwe Fanta.
According to Ms. Fanta, the mother’s actions were seen as a last-ditch effort to shield her child from a dangerous predator.
