Although there was no indication of foul play when Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were discovered dead at their house last month, one heartbreaking fact has since been made public.
Last Wednesday, February 26, the deaths of the 95-year-old and his 65-year-old girlfriend, a classical pianist, were found at their house in the Santa Fe Summit.

Elizabeth Jean Hackman, Gene’s daughter, had previously expressed her suspicion that carbon monoxide poisoning was the cause.
However, preliminary examinations conducted by the Santa Fe City Fire Department revealed “no signs” of poisoning or a carbon monoxide leak.
