“The trip back to the dock took a very long time,” Free remembers. “John sat on the deck gathering equipment, Blake sprawled out on the back seat, and Andy crawled onto the back of the boat.”
Her husband had to shout at her sons to get their asses up and assist since, of course, they weren’t being “particularly helpful.”
However, Andy “didn’t struggle” after falling from their boat. They first believed he was being “defiant,” but it quickly became apparent that he required assistance.
It was too late by the time Free’s husband and a nice stranger jumped in and grabbed him. According to his mother, “he was recovered, but he never took another breath.”
