A boxer who was classified as a “biological male” defeated an Italian lady in a very contentious Olympic match that took place today.
Imane Khelif of Algeria and Angela Carini of Italy fought for just 46 seconds until Carini threw her helmet on the floor and yelled, “This is unjust.” The bout was eventually abandoned.
Khelif, who had a suspension from a big boxing event before to the Olympics, landed barely two strikes on the 25-year-old before he resisted the handshake and collapsed to the ground, crying.
Because Khelif tested positive for testosterone during the gender qualifying process, she was disqualified from last year’s global championships.
Following the game’s interruption, the official hoisted Khelif’s hand into the air. Carini, however, walked away from the fight official after obviously yanking her own hand away from him.
