Harry congratulated Birmingham on its victory, which was announced today, as the city will host the Invictus Games in 2027.
In the 2027 Games, three new sports are anticipated to be featured: pickleball, laser run, and esports.
“The Invictus Games in 2027 would ‘put Birmingham on the map once again,’” said Al Carns, minister for veterans and people and MP for Birmingham Selly Oak, at a special ceremony today to highlight the winning bid to host the games at the NEC.
‘All eyes are going to be on Birmingham in these games and that’s a terrific narrative for the mayor, it’s a great story for the council and the people in the West Midlands,’ the veteran continued, speaking from his experience serving and leading during four deployments in Afghanistan.
“Now there’s a place where the people of Birmingham and the West Midlands can go to learn about the bravery of our veterans and take pride in them,” the statement said.
