WKRC in Cincinnati In court on Monday, a father entered a not guilty plea to accusations of endangering his child.
According to the police, Martez Jones was taken into custody after one of his young children shot his 7-month-old infant on Saturday at a house in West Price Hill.
Jones is charged with leaving a loaded revolver on a windowsill in his bedroom on Saturday as he went to the restroom with his three daughters.
His infant was shot in the leg at that point. After that, she was brought to the hospital.
In court, a number of Jones’ relatives testified on his side. His fatherhood was praised by all, and the situation was described as a “unfortunate accident.”
According to a relative, the infant was doing well while she was still in the hospital. Jones’ grandma looked after one of his two girls, while the other is with her mother.
Jones has no criminal history, so he can either pay a $4,500 bond or leave jail without posting bail and wearing an electronic monitoring device.
