He is prohibited from having any firearms while his case is pending, and the judge ordered him to refrain from seeing his kids until Job and Family Services authorizes it.
Upon Jones’ tearful exit from court, his case brought attention to a widespread issue in the Tri-State: improper gun storage.
Local 12 has covered a number of unintentional shootings involving local children in recent years. Ana Albi, a member of the Cincinnati City Council, is a fervent supporter of safe storage regulations.
“We lost a 3-year-old in October 2022 in my own neighborhood of Madisonville when their 5-year-old sibling picked up a gun that was left out in the house,” Albi added.
It’s awful to see this happening in Cincinnati, Albi remarked. Her office has helped make it possible for people to get free gun locks at the city’s libraries.
In collaboration with the city’s schools, sports teams, medical facilities, and Be SMART, she is now developing a program for safe storage and focusing on public education.
