After piercing her baby’s dimple, a mother-of-six receives death threats.

To protest and raise awareness against infant circumcision other major body alterations, Ohio mother Enedina Vance released a

Photoshopped picture of her newborn daughter with a visible cheek piercing. Little did she know that people would completely ignore her message!

She appropriately accompanied the photo with a series of hyperbolic, sarcastic remarks, such as “As a parent,

I have the right to decide whether my child gets pierced or not, and that decision is not abuse!” Please do not criticize my parenting or my choice; it is my right!

After this description, she used the hashtag “#sarcasm” to indicate that she was being intentionally sarcastic. As her message went viral, however, not everyone caught it, and the outcry intensified.

To Vance’s surprise, very few people noticed that the shot was staged and the commentary was critical.
