The discovery of a ‘inappropriate’ emblem on children’s underwear she bought from a discount supermarket caused a mother to become quite alarmed.
A budget retailer has been ordered to take what she calls “sexually inappropriate” children’s underwear from its racks by Nicola Pritchard, a resident of Staffordshire, UK.
The mother of three said that she bought a four-pack of girls’ underwear for her daughter, who is ten years old, for less than $4 (£2.50) from Poundland’s Pepco line.
The 40-year-old didn’t give the design much attention until she got the pack home and her toddler inquired about the meaning of the Japanese letters.
Nicola claimed to have been “gobsmacked” by the discovery after researching the symbol that is shown on the front of the trousers. She complained to the merchant about.
The ‘inappropriate’ emblem after learning that it translated to ‘cat’ or ‘pussycat’ in Chinese Chinese. She also asked Poundland to remove the product from their inventory.
