After shooting a man dead during a routine traffic stop, a police officer made a disturbing five-word comment to a coworker.

According to dashcam evidence reviewed by NBC News, Sgt. Iversen informed Randall that he had failed to stop at a posted sign.

Randall, however, insisted he had obeyed the sign completely, telling the officer, “I came to a full stop.” The situation escalated when the officer asked Randall to exit the car.

What began as a standard roadside check soon unraveled into a deadly confrontation.

Within moments of Randall stepping out of his vehicle on the remote road two hours east of Dallas, the encounter turned violent — culminating in a gunshot that ended his life.

Chillingly, just moments after firing the fatal shot, Sgt. Iversen is heard relaying a terse, unsettling phrase over his radio: “I just smoked a dude.”
