Sister Genevieve Jeanningros has now talked about the first time she went to her deceased friend’s coffin.
“Many people told me: when you go to see the Pope, take us with you,” she told the Vatican press service, acknowledging that she was also saddened by pleas she had received. I too shed tears for them.
The nun has now made four trips to St. Peter’s Basilica, most recently on Friday when she met the late Pope with a woman named Laura Esquivel.
Esquibel, a trans woman from Paraguay, revealed that she was the first trans woman to shake hands with the Pope. We had lunch together, and I’ve seen him seven times. I really liked him.
G1 claims that since then, Sister Genevieve has been asked for interviews by the media multiple times, but she has declined each time.
