The bronze Olympic medal that Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu won was formally given to her when the International Olympics Committee controversially decided to take it away from gymnast Jordan Chiles.
Barbosu accepted the gold in a ceremony held in Bucharest, Romania, on August 16. She also posed for pictures with
the Paris Olympics trophy—which she had won for her floor routine—around her neck. However, it was a bittersweet occasion for the eighteen-year-old.
At the event, Barbosu said, “I can’t help but think about Sabrina [Maneca-Voinea] and Jordan right now.”
We are in a challenging scenario with a lot of unknowns and strong emotions. I think everyone is aware that we did nothing improper during the Olympics.
