After the Paris Games, two Paralympians and a guide are missing.

The athletes’ passports were still with the Congolese delegation, according to an unnamed person with knowledge of the issue who spoke to the Associated Press.

Although the prospect of a voluntary disappearance or defection has not been ruled out, authorities are also looking into “potential disturbing elements of the case,” according to The New York Post.

When reached by AP, the Congolese Paralympic Committee declined to comment on the situation. The two athletes and their adviser came back to the stadium on September 4th for their individual events.

During the Paralympics, Nganga did not get a mark, and Mouambako finished fourth in his first round Men’s 100m T11 heat, missing out on advancement to the next round.

On September 8, the trio attended the Stade de France closing ceremony. There have been other instances of disappearances of this kind.
