After the police killed his son the day before, a black father in Ohio killed an officer in retaliation.

 

Rather, we witness police yelling about a pistol, gunfire, and then attempts to use medical assistance to revive Ryan.

According to reports, the gun that was found at the site had not been discharged. Theetge said that the footage is jerky and blurry.

However, that justification is not very consoling in a country where Black victims are frequently unreliable and cops are rarely held responsible.

However, the anguish and rage of a community that has been here far too often also flowed in with the tributes. Another teenager took a life. Another shattered Black father.

Before going back to the same questions, there is another minute of silence: Why do we always end up dying? Why haven’t we received justice yet?

This is happening with heavy hearts and a familiar ache for Black people in Cincinnati and around the nation. Justice—a system that doesn’t always assume a Black youth’s culpability.
