At least 11 people have died as a result of the unrelenting flames that are ravaging Los Angeles, including great-grandfather Anthony Mitchell, 67, and his son Justin.
In Altadena, Mitchell, a wheelchair-using amputee and former salesman, lived with his sick son, Justin, who had cerebral palsy.
Mitchell’s daughter, Hajime White, claims that her father contacted her Wednesday morning to let her know that the situation was becoming worse.
She told the Washington Post, “He said, ‘Baby, I’m just letting you know the fire’s broken out, and we’re going to have to flee.’… “Then he said, ‘I’ve gotta go—the fire’s in the yard.'”
Sadly, Mitchell couldn’t get out in time with his kid. White clarified that no caretakers were present to help, thus her father had been waiting for an ambulance.
