According to The Hollywood Reporter, which quotes his wife, actress Joanna Frank, the actor died of heart failure in his sleep early on Saturday morning.
Rachins began his acting career in the middle of the 1970s, playing small parts in many TV series and films.
Steven Bochco, a well-known television producer, gave him his big break in 1986 when he was cast as Douglas Brackman, Jr. in the popular courtroom drama “L.A. Law.”
During the show’s eight-season run, AR made 171 appearances… for which he was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
